A new year begins so it's time for all business owners take time to do some serious planning.

It's a good idea to spend a day or two preparing your business plan and then take some time off, to digest your plans, and then come back into the office refreshed with a new direction, ready to make money. Whilst you may be an expert if your field and totally in control, it is always good to know and accept what you DON'T know. We all NEED a network around us and identifying yours can be a great advantage for you.

Are you proactive or reactive? Do you set guidelines and have expectations? Do you share with your team, do they share the same with you? Do your pathways lead to the same destination or goal? Knowing what you don't know is a great way to share others expertise. Once you know and have this clear this in your mind you can then begin to share with others to benefit your goal. No one should be scared to admit that they do not have all the answers. Many business owners' use referral marketing and networking to learn what they don't know themselves, and develop a business relationship with another who can help them and/or their clients with a complimentary service to their own.

Benefits to your business and to your clients

Any plan should have clear definition, goals, boundaries, backup and outcomes. If your clients know that you have reliable procedures and plans because you have taken the time to plan and share them, you are well on the way to be trusted and this in itself can be the best referral for any new business or increased sales. You will develop ambassadors for your business, the best testimonial.
